This page is dedicated to the Sanders, Benson, Sheppard, Lindsey, Phillips, Huntley, Watts, Meador, and Lusk families.

I am told, my Sanders line originates from England.  I have traced them back to Henderson County, and Paris County Tn. Census records indicate they lived in North Carolina before moving to Tennessee, however; I've had no luck.   If anyone gets further in their search than I have, I would appreciate some help.

This is a picture of Cinda Malissa Smith (dau.of Martha Elizabeth Benson Smith) born 1896, and died in 1930.

CINDA: Graduated from Chester County High School in 1917; played on first girls’ basketball team; attended college at Memphis Normal School and received her permanent teacher’s certificate and taught in county schools for 8 years; was first woman to own a car in the area, a Dodge Touring Sedan.

The Benson Line I received from Marisa Benson, and am very greatful she is kind enough to share. She has researched it quite extensively.

I have concluded that Mary Melissa Benson's maiden name was indeed Sheppard.  Her parents were Jane and John Sheppard.  I took this spelling of the surname from the Tombstones, in Barrens Springs Cemetery, Reagan Tn.  I will be updating Gedcoms and family trees soon.
