This page is dedicated to my Elzner, Rabensburg, Kleinert, Boese, Jung and Schaefer families that lived in Bastrop, Bastrop County Texas. There are more pictures and documents in my photo album on this site. Picture from Tammy Owen's website: Bastrop Co The Elzner Family: The ELZNER Family immigrated to Bastrop TX. from Leipzig, Germany around 1854.

The SCHAEFER family moved to Bastrop Tx around 1845, from Evansville, Indiana. They lived and raised their family their until they died. George SCHAEFER was in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, serving in Finney's 3rd Battalion, (Kirby's infantry), and was a prisoner of War. George's occupation was a farmer, according to his Pension application, however; I have found evidence he also was a butcher in a meat market, and worked as a tinner. This is a picture of the Civil War Vet's having a reunion in Bastrop around 1905. He is probably in the picture somewhere. Picture from Tammy Owen's Website: Bastrop Co. Adelheit Boese Schaefer. Picture donated by Jimmie Elzner. Mamie Schaefer Elzner Hunt, Woodrow Elzner, and Mr. Hunt. Picture donated by Jimmie Elzner. Barbara Schaefer Kleinert. Picture donated by Charles Kleinert. In the city of Bastrop, there is a SCHAEFER Bed & Breakfast, and a SCHAEFER Avenue. I haven't been able to verify these places are named after this family.

The RABENSBURG'S, KLEINERT'S and ELZNER'S were close knit families. They often worked, and owned stores together.
The RABENSBURG'S entered the port of Galveston on the 3rd day of November A.D 1854.
The RABENSBURG family had quite a few enterprises as well, such as: a furniture store, Liquor by the Quart, Honeycomb Candy, Real Estate, and Insurance.
Jacob Rabensburg was a talented woodworker, some of his furniture is still in existence today. A chest of drawers is in the Bastrop County Historical Museum and other pieces are owned by his descendents.
The KLEINERT'S ran a Furniture store.
